Nicole Astra: Welcome to Talking Plant Protein. I'm Nicole Astra. And this is industry news. Built on 40 years of leadership and global expertise in plant protein, Roquette continues to pioneer the industry with a virtual grand opening event intended by thousands of industry professionals worldwide. Roquette has officially opened the world's largest pea protein plant. At the event, chairman of Roquette, Edouard Roquette spoke about the new facility.
Edouard Roquette: I'm proud to say it is the world's largest pea protein plant far ahead of any existing facility. It is equipped with the latest cutting edge technology and state-of-the-art equipment. And thanks to our skilled and committed workforce, it places us in the unique position of being the only player with production capacity in Europe and North America, the two most important markets for plant proteins. The world has embarked on a food and nutritional revolution, and Roquette is proud to be positioned as the global leader, not just for today, but for the future as well. We entered this new chapter of our history with a firm ambition to continue to grow, to improve people's lives, and to humbly contribute to making this world a better place.
Nicole Astra: Not only the world's largest, but the most modern processing plant as well. The 200,000 square foot Canadian site increases Roquette's global processing capacity by roughly 125,000 tons of yellow peas per year. When combined with the plants in Europe, their capacity now rises to 250,000 tons of peas per year. A few months ago, Roquette launched another new endeavor, an R&D accelerator in France, fully dedicated to plant protein. This plant protein center of expertise enlarges the field of possibilities in terms of food innovation, new protein development, and new production technologies. And it enables Roquette to support its growth ambitions and make a greater contribution to the food revolution and plant-based cuisine. These unprecedented investments affirm Roquette's dedication to serving the industry as a market leader. CEO, Pierre Courduroux commented on the motivation behind their recent expansions.
Pierre Courduroux: We've built it to become a major step to extend our global footprint in order to better serve our customers. And we believe it is also a major step to become your partner of choice for developing a new, healthier, more sustainable gastronomy for our customers.
Nicole Astra: Roquette has already helped millions of people add more plant-based proteins to their diets. They work closely with food leaders to develop new products and solutions that contribute to a sustainable supply chain and a healthier planet. Demand for pea protein has been booming with multiple industry estimates, expecting an annual global growth rate between 15 and 24% over the next decade. With their new plant in Canada and R&D accelerator in France, Roquette has responded to that demand. A virtual grand opening event titled Plant for the Future, showcase Roquette's confidence in what's to come in plant protein. It demonstrated that trail blazing is the only way forward on the quest for innovation. I'm Nicole Astra for Talking Plant Protein. And that's your industry news.
