Nicole Astra: Welcome to Talking Plant Protein. I am honored today to have such a positive guest joining me in the hot seat, Armetha Pihlstrom, Senior Director of US and Canada Food Service Sales from Future Farm. Welcome to the show.
Armetha Pihlstrom: How are you, Nicole? Thank you so much for having myself here in Future Farm.
Nicole Astra: We are so glad to be talking to you. My first question is I want to know what sets you apart from some of the other big players out there.
Armetha Pihlstrom: Yeah. Great question. When you think about Future Farm, our whole mission is to exist to disrupt the animal origin of the meat industry. We want to be the change agents. Not the agents of chaos. We were born convicted and committed to change the world. And by changing the world, we have to be able to change the way real world eats meats.
Nicole Astra: Absolutely. And I can tell from the press you get, from your website, talking with some of your employees, that transparency is really at the core of what you do. Can you tell me about some of the commitments you've made to the consumer and that's reflected in how you guys do business?
Armetha Pihlstrom: Absolutely. When you think about for Future Farm, our consumer target is the flexitarian. It is the pro Earth generation, the people that are truly thinking every day, how do I reduce my consumption of meat as well as the globalists and the socialists, as well as the tribalists because all of those trends are really where we say that's where our transparency lies is with them. And so what we found is that between 18 and 24, that's the magic number to remember that's how many times people try plant-based products. And so we owe it to them to make sure that we're providing the best products, the best ingredients, and to make sure that whatever we put out, it's 100% clean label and natural products. No gluten free, so we have no gluten. We have no cholesterol, no artificial flavors, aromas, hydrology oils, as well as we have responsible soy that is in our product as well. A lot of people can't say that, but our product is.
Nicole Astra: And you bringing in a third party to say so as well, is that correct?
Armetha Pihlstrom: That is correct. That is correct. The round table on Responsible Soy Association is a nonprofit organization promoting the growth of production, trade, and the use of responsible soy. That's why we can honestly say that it's a non GMO product with our soy.
Nicole Astra: That's great. Now let's talk Plant Based World Expo. They are a newer voice in the business, but so well received. They're drawing really who's who in the industry for such a great networking event, December 9th and 10th, but they get a lot of buzz because people get to taste new products. What will you be serving up?
Armetha Pihlstrom: Oh, we're so excited because again, Plant Based World Expo is the place to show any products if it's 100% vegan and plant based industry trends. Our very own chef Dennis Somala will be pairing some on trend cravables and delicious gluten free plant based dishes. We'll be having our double, double patty melt. You remember that old fashioned patty melt that you would get when you go to your grandma's house, we're bringing about that comfort food, but doing it in the right way, which is the double, double patty melt. We're doing a kettle corn, corn dog using our Future Farm sausage. And we're doing a Future Farm, Southern fried chicken and waffles, a playoff that, using our new Future Farm chicken and last but not least, we're coming out with the Future Farm tuna, so we're doing a Future Farm tuna mayo Masaki sushi roll. It's really cool. We're going to do a playoff sushi using our tuna.
Nicole Astra: Now see everything you just said sounds so delicious. And we talk about this a lot here. What I wish people understood was so much of this revolution exists for the meat eaters. You said it, this comfort food, that cravable food, so you're giving them such a great entry into the plant-based world with this fantastic food. You're doing great things. We're going to keep our eye on you. And I'm so grateful for your time today on Talking Plant Protein.
Armetha Pihlstrom: Oh, thank you so much, Nicole, for this opportunity. And please make sure you tell a lot of people about Future Farm.
