As demand for alternative proteins and vegan options expands, traditional food producers are creating plant-based products. While Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods are current meat-substitute market leaders, Tyson brought their updated Raised & Rooted vegan protein line to major stores like Kroger, Publix, Safeway, and Target.
Welcome to Talking Plant Protein. I am Nicole Astra and this is Industry News.
The demand for traditional, meat-based chicken nuggets has been on a steady decline due to health concerns and bad press but plant-based options are resurrecting popularity of the nugget.
80% of the world’s top food and meat producers are now offering plant-based options with companies like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat leading the way.
Tyson – a meat industry giant – has rolled out its own line of plant-based products. Consumers have been waiting for years for something like Tyson’s Raised and Rooted vegan nuggets boasting eight grams of protein and 33% less saturated fat than the leading white meat nugget.
Supermarkets nationwide are carrying the Raised and Rooted line including whole-grain tenders, spicy and original nuggets.
In addition to vegan nuggets, Tyson announced burger patties, bratwurst, Italian sausage and ground meat will be available later this year – all made from pea protein.
