The sun is out, your grill is out – and Sweet Earth Foods has a new plant-based hot dog out. Welcome to Talking Plant Protein. I’m Nicole Astra and this is Industry News.
Nestlé-owned food creator Sweet Earth Foods announced two new products this month: A redesign of the company’s plant-based burger and its first foray into the vegan hot dog realm. Sweet Earth’s Vegan Jumbo Hot Dogs mix pea and potato protein as a base. The company says they’re larger than competing products and are meant as a sustainable swap for ballpark-style franks on this summer’s grills and skillets. The new product is available in the U.S. now at select groceries like FreshDirect and should be found in Kroger stores by August.
Sweet Earth’s Awesome Burger 2.0 is, as you may guess from the name, an update on the company’s original Awesome Burger. This one mixes hemp with fava and pea protein, which the company says gives it a beefier texture. It’s available this summer throughout the United States at stores like Amazon Fresh, Target, and Whole Foods.
