From health coach to wellness chef, Annette Licitra has many titles – and now a co-author after being published in Voices of the 21st Century: Conscious, Caring Women Who Make a Difference. Annette talks about her chapter, and shares a few tips for healthy living along the way.
Joey Thurman:
Welcome back to Talking Plant Protein. A friend of the show, Annette Licitra, Integrative Health Coach, Wellness Chef, and owner of Passion Palette. Annette, what's up?
Annette Licitra:
Hey, Joey. How are you?
Joey Thurman:
I'm good. You're all sparkly, like your personality today. Nice.
Annette Licitra:
Thanks. Yeah. Well, you got to do it right.
Joey Thurman:
You got to do it right. Well, thanks for coming on the show. Now, you do a lot of things, but you have a new project coming out, which just came out at the end of February. It's a book, Voices of the 21st Century: Conscious, Caring Women Who Make a Difference. So congratulations, number one. Number two, what is this all about?
Annette Licitra:
Yeah, thank you so much. So I ended up being a co-author of this book, so there's 50 co-authors that are part of the Women's Speakers Association. And it's a beautiful book about empowering women. We each talk about our stories, so we each have a chapter. And it is just a beautiful book of a compilation of everyone's story. And everyone's story is different, everyone has a little bit of multiple stories, right? So this just captures something that we each decided to talk about in one chapter of the book. So that's what this is, and it came out on 2/22/22. So it's a date that nobody is going to forget.
Joey Thurman:
Nice. I like that. So whoever your marketing department is, nice job, 2/22/22. And what about your chapter? How do you see empowering women? Without giving away everything, I know we want people to purchase the book, right? But what do you talk about in your chapter?
Annette Licitra:
Yeah. So obviously, yes, being the CEO and founder of Passionate Palette and being an Integrative Health Coach and Wellness Chef, now a best selling author, which is really cool. Just became an international best selling author on Amazon.
Joey Thurman:
Nice.
Annette Licitra:
But I really wanted to just empower ladies. This is what I do. And men, of course, but I'm assuming a lot more ladies are going to be reading this book. But really just to empower women by transforming their lives from the inside out, of course, through not only of course the foods that I work with people on holistic healing approaches, but just by my story, because I know that there's so many people that are probably in a similar position about health and wellness, that whatever they're struggling with, chronic digestive issues, chronic inflammation, different things happening. And I wanted to at least share my story about health and wellness on a physical level, but how it really helped me shift and change on an emotional and of course a spiritual level.
Annette Licitra:
So we know health is a mindset and it's not just about changing what goes on your plate. That's a big piece of it, of course, but it's just a mindset. And so I wanted to really provide this chapter to show the transformation in my life about moving out of a space that I was not happy in and how really it took a toll on my whole health. And that was being in a career that I was not passionate about until now, which I thank God I am very passionate about. But really seeing how the physical shifts had to happen so that I could have an emotional and spiritual shift as well.
Joey Thurman:
And that's great. It's nice that you can go back to how you changed your life and then people can take that and you can have empathize and sympathize with them. People may be seeing you like, oh, she's got it figured out right now. She has it all together. She's sparkly, she's good to go. What can they do today, like right now, something very simple, because a lot of times people see things as overwhelming, right? It's too much. What's one tangible thing they can do to help change their lives and empower themselves?
Annette Licitra:
I love that question because really there are so many things, but I would say first off is rest. And we don't do enough of it because we're always go, go, go, and it's just one of those things that we don't really put on the forefront because we think we have to continue moving and continue doing and not resting enough to really gather our thoughts and let our bodies work on repair. Even, and you don't have to sit and rest all day long, but it's just one thing where if you can take a little time during the day to just take a few minutes or take an hour just to sit and rest, and do some breathing. Do some breathing exercises. And again, it doesn't have to be long, it could be two minutes, but doing some resting.
Joey Thurman:
Okay. I don't know if you saw.
Annette Licitra:
Exactly. Yeah.
Joey Thurman:
I was just breathing right there. I was taking it in. These are great tips. Annette, what's coming up for you and where can people find the book?
Annette Licitra:
Yeah. So I want to show the book real quick.
Joey Thurman:
Beautiful.
Annette Licitra:
So that is what that looks like. So they can find the book by connecting with me through my website and also through my Facebook page. So Passionate Palette, as well as my business website is called passionatepalette.com. And then also on social media, so either on LinkedIn, on Instagram, on Facebook, under Passionate Palette. And then also my website. But you can find it on Amazon if you'd like. It's the generic version, so I would encourage anyone who does want to purchase it, purchase it through me directly, because that's where you'll get your personalized copy with my name on it. And I will, if someone wants me to personalize it for them, I can do that as well.
Joey Thurman:
Signed copies are always good. Annette bringing the passionate to empowering women. See what I did there?
Annette Licitra:
I love it.
Joey Thurman:
That's good. Thanks for coming on Talking Plant Protein.
Annette Licitra:
Thank you so much, Joey.
